Commitment: 2 hours per week

About Maryam Support Line:
Maryam Support Line is a dedicated charity providing emotional and spiritual support to Muslim women across the world. As part of our commitment to ensuring the well-being of our volunteers, we are seeking a two compassionate and qualified Volunteer Counsellors to provide professional support to our team.
Role Purpose:
The Volunteer Counsellor will offer confidential, one-to-one counselling or coaching to volunteers, helping them process their experiences, manage emotional challenges, and maintain their mental well-being while they dedicate their time to supporting others.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide weekly, 2-hour counselling/coaching sessions for volunteers in need of emotional or mental health support.
Offer a safe, non-judgmental, and empathetic space for volunteers to discuss challenges related to their role.
Help volunteers build resilience, manage stress, and develop effective coping strategies.
Maintain strict confidentiality in line with professional counselling ethics.
Keep concise and secure records of sessions (if necessary) in accordance with GDPR and organisational policies.
Communicate with the Director to identify trends or areas for organisational improvement, while safeguarding client confidentiality.
Qualifications & Skills Required:
A minimum of a Level 3 Counselling qualification or a Bachelor’s degree in Counselling, Psychology, Coaching, or a related field.
Membership in a recognised counselling or coaching body (e.g., BACP, UKCP, ICF) is highly desirable.
Experience providing counselling or coaching in a professional or voluntary capacity.
Excellent active listening and communication skills.
Ability to work with individuals from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds, with an understanding of the needs of Muslim women.
