About Maryam Support Line
Maryam Support Line is a dedicated helpline providing emotional and spiritual support to women in need. Our aim is to offer a compassionate, faith-sensitive space where women feel heard, supported, and empowered.
Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated volunteer counsellor to provide short-term therapeutic support to callers who require structured counselling sessions. As a volunteer counsellor, you will offer six sessions per caller, helping them navigate challenges, direct them towards self-reflection, develop coping strategies, and find strength through faith and self-reflection.
Key Responsibilities
Provide confidential and compassionate counselling support to callers.
Offer structured six-session therapy plans tailored to individual needs.
Maintain professional boundaries and adhere to ethical counselling practices.
Keep session notes for continuity of care.
Liaise with the support team for any safeguarding concerns or additional support needs.
Signpost clients to relevant external resources where necessary.
Essential Requirements
Minimum Level 4 Diploma in Counselling (in training or completed), OR
MSc in Counselling or Psychology (or currently studying).
Understanding of faith-sensitive and culturally aware counselling approaches.
Commitment to confidentiality, empathy, and non-judgmental support.
Ability to commit to 2 hours per week to support assigned callers.
