HR Officer

Location: Remote
Hours: Part-time (2 days a week)

Role Overview:
The HR Officer at Maryam Support Line plays a key role in nurturing a positive, supportive volunteer environment. This part-time, remote role involves managing volunteer relations, resolving conflicts, and leading recruitment and talent acquisition efforts. The HR Officer ensures that all volunteers are supported, well-integrated into our culture, and aligned with our mission of providing compassionate support for Muslim women.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Volunteer Management

    • Regularly check in with volunteers to address questions, provide support, and ensure they feel valued within the organisation.

    • Conduct feedback reviews with volunteers to encourage development and recognise achievements.

    • Organise and manage team meetings and events to foster a sense of belonging.

  2. Talent Acquisition

    • Lead recruitment efforts to identify, interview, and onboard new volunteers who align with Maryam Support Line’s values and mission.

    • Collaborate with managing director to understand their volunteer needs and ensure appropriate roles are filled.

    • Develop job descriptions, post volunteer openings, and maintain an effective volunteer recruitment pipeline.

  3. Volunteer Training & Development

    • Coordinate with trainers to ensure new volunteers receive comprehensive training on Maryam Support Line’s values, policies, and procedures.

    • Identify opportunities and organise trainings that foster growth, skill-building, and team cohesion among volunteers.

  4. Conflict Resolution

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for managing conflicts among volunteers and addressing any interpersonal issues that may arise.

    • Implement mediation techniques to resolve conflicts swiftly and compassionately, upholding a respectful and collaborative environment.

    • Identify any recurring issues, providing guidance and implementing strategies to prevent future conflicts.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in HR, volunteer management, or a related role, preferably within a non-profit or volunteer-driven environment.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive matters with empathy and discretion.

  • Familiarity with remote collaboration tools and processes.

  • Demonstrated ability in recruitment and onboarding processes, with experience in conflict resolution preferred.
