About Us: Maryam Support Line is a volunteer-led charity dedicated to providing emotional support to Muslim women across the UK. Our mission is to create a safe and compassionate space where women can share their struggles and receive the support they need. We are looking for a passionate and skilled PR Manager to help us increase our visibility, raise awareness about our services, and build strong relationships with the media and the community.

Role Overview: We are seeking a PR Manager to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing a public relations strategy that enhances the reputation of Maryam Support Line and helps us reach a wider audience. You will work closely with our leadership team to craft compelling messages, manage media relations, apply for awards and create impactful campaigns that highlight our mission and achievements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive PR strategy to raise awareness of Maryam Support Line and its services.

  • Write and distribute press releases, media kits, and other PR materials to communicate our mission, achievements, and events.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, bloggers, and influencers in the community, particularly within the Muslim and mental health sectors.

  • Manage media inquiries and act as the primary spokesperson for the organisation when necessary.

  • Coordinate and manage press events, interviews, and media appearances to ensure consistent and positive coverage.

  • Monitor media coverage and provide regular reports on PR activities and outcomes to the leadership team.

  • Collaborate with the marketing and social media teams to ensure alignment between PR efforts and overall communication strategies.

  • Identify and leverage opportunities for awards, speaking engagements, and other public platforms to promote the organization.

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, media landscapes, and emerging PR tools to continuously improve our PR efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in public relations, communications, or a related field.

  • Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to craft compelling narratives and effectively pitch stories to the media.

  • Experience building and maintaining media relationships.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Passion for empowering Muslim women and supporting mental health initiatives.

  • Experience in the nonprofit sector or with volunteer-led organizations is a plus.
